Cold coffee is not a new concept by any means. People have been drinking it for years and if you go to your local coffee house you'll see a variety of options.

It is made with either a concentrate, a regular brew that has cooled down, cold brewed coffee (instructions are available under the brewing tab), espresso shots which are poured into a cold beverage, ice added to the beverage, and blended ice drinks, some of which are just espresso blended with ice.

Keep in mind that there is no rule for how to make anything. People just made it up! Fact is, they usually take cold coffee and then add milk and flavored sweeteners (like vanilla or raspberry) to crushed ice and then blend it up. Or they take cold milk or cream and add a your regular brew or espresso to the milk, then add crushed ice and sweeteners or syrups and blend it up!

These drinks are almost all milk with a little coffee or nearly all coffee with a little milk. Or it's taken black, with ice.

Think of these beverages as an 80 / 20 rule. Eighty percent your base (either coffee or milk) and twenty percent the other. Add everything to a blender filled with ice, then add your other syrups, chocolate powder, or whipped cream.

In some countries, here's what they tend to do when they're not making it hot.

Greece serves their coffee in frappe form. Chile serves theirs as an ice cream or heavy cream, with a powdered coffee, vanilla, and nuts mixed in. Italy serves theirs as a blended, slushy espresso. India uses mixes milk and instant coffee together. In the U.S., we tend to either have ours as regular coffee with ice and flavored syrup added or as Cream with ice and a little espresso added (sometimes blended, sometimes not.)
