Some people like to cold brew dark roast in a French Press, or Coffee Press.

Which means coarse grind the beans, let them sit for twelve hours in cold water in the refrigerator, and use half the amount of water or twice the amount of grounds.

You end up with something like a concentrate that you can add to iced beverages.

Cold Brewed Coffee also is less acidic than the traditional hot method. You can also add hot water to your concentrate at a later date.

Espresso coffee really does need an espresso machine. This is because the hot water is sent very quickly through very small grounds. Putting espresso in a drip coffeemaker or a French Press will not achieve the same result.

Dark Roast is usually used for stronger coffee.

Once brewed, remove from heat. Heat destroys coffee flavor.

Often, the proper ratio is one tablespoon of coffee per four ounces of water. Increase the coffee grounds through experimentation until you find your preference.

I admit I love a strong brewed cup of coffee. To me it's rich and satisfying and seems to linger on the tongue. But simply tossing more ground beans into your coffee device will not guarantee a great cup of coffee. If you want a great cup of coffee at home, follow a few simple techniques.

Remember, it's going to take some experimentation to find the proper strength for your taste in how to brew strong coffee for you, in terms of how many tablespoons you use for the amount of water. Once you've determined that, you can measure out both your grounds and your water accurately.

Your water should be 195-205 degrees Fahrenheit or just short of boiling. I have found that a problem lies in that most electric coffee makers don't get the water hot enough. The results will be a cup of coffee that frankly lacks flavor. Shop for a coffee brewer that requires you to heat the water separately and add it to the grounds. You'll be glad you took the time and spent the money (which won't cost you an arm and leg). French presses work the best, but manual drip coffee makers work well also.

The size of the grind of coffee beans will be determined by the brewing device you choose to use. A course grind, think a bit courser than couscous, is recommended for a French Press. Coffee Grinders will have settings. The setting for your Coffee Press will be labeled, "Press" or "Course."

Time your brew

Almost instantly, once you add water to grounds, you begin to extract a wide array of flavors. At first the flavors will be strong and earthy. In a short while, they will mellow and more pleasant characteristics come forward. But, brew too long, and... BAM, the bitterness comes with a vengeance. When using a French press, it's best to push down the plunger after 4 minutes. If using a drip press, stop filtering water after 5 minutes.

What our
customers say,

To all you coffee lovers out there... I have been drinking coffee for over 43 years and have never had a better cup than this brand of Kona Coffee. Immediately, I could taste the difference in what I had been drinking and this cup of perfection was worlds apart from an ordinary cup of coffee. It's like I had been consuming an acidic, watered-down version of coffee and not realizing it. I like the fact that the growers take great care in producing only the finest coffee bean. This coffee is now the only coffee I will drink! Once you have experienced this delectable, flavorful cup of coffee, I can promise you there is no settling for less than the best.

Fast delivery. Coffee arrived in reusable airtight bags that "really" seal. This coffee is fresh. I know that it is fresh because it is not bitter or flat when it is brewed. You don't need sugar or milk with this coffee. It tastes good just the way it is.

Tom - Oakley, CA

Just wanted to thank you on the excellent coffee.
I ordered some dark roast a month ago and gave it a try at work on my little coffeemaker. The office smelled great and the taste was outstanding. I did give away a few cups because our office coffee is garbage but I am a bit greedy with my supplies when it comes to that kind of quality. I gave folks your site but I think other folks can get their own.

Good stuff.

I absolutely love your coffee! I've never been a big coffee drinker until now. I can literally sit at my desk and drink cup after cup after cup. Not only does it give me a burst of energy, but it smells amazing and is very delicious. Definitely has a sweeter taste than any other coffee I have ever tasted. Usually, most coffee is sort of bitter. Not this coffee. The Kaluli coffee is wonderful! I love it.

I've been a coffee drinker for years now. When I lived in the Bay Area I had a favorite cafe that made the best coffee and I was a loyal customer. Recently, I found the tastiest coffee I've ever had and the best part is, I don't have to go to a cafe to find it. I can order it from the comfort of my own home! It's the Ferrari of coffee. It's so full of flavor, it makes Starbucks and Coffee Bean's stuff taste like bitter water. You've got to try a cup for yourself.

My name is Lara and I would like to tell you how great I think the Kona Coffee is. It is so great that I normally drink 2 cups of it. Love it! Love it! Love it! Thank you!!!

This is my day. Bweeeep! Bweeeeep! Bweeeeeep! Goes the alarm. The shrill sound is a cruel reminder that there is no early morning forest bird waking you today. Wap! Yes, that was your head hitting the cabinet doors since you're stumbling towards the grinder with your eyes closed. You finally reach it, you pour into the grinder the most delicious coffee beans ever tasted. You turn on the grinder and it makes short aromatic work of your favorite, the dark roast. Only the dark roast will do. Especially on cold, dark mornings. 4 agonizingly slow minutes later, the steaming, fragrant elixir is in your cup. A sip or two into it, the alarm is forgotten, the head is not throbbing, and you swear you can hear those birds! You silently promise yourself that the next time you travel to Kona, Hawaii; you're bringing an empty suitcase to fill with bags of this coffee! At the end of the cup, the world is just a bit brighter, maybe a bit warmer, and you decide sandals should be perfectly appropriate business attire for the day ;-) Thanks for the great coffee!
